Hey Guys,
Could anyone give me some tips on how to go after turkey during the fall season? Do you still use calls? If so, what kind of sounds are good in fall? Are decoys still good to use? I'm gonna be heading out on October 9th for turkey and am hoping for some better luck than I had in spring

I have never heard of using calls or anything during the fall season, i think you just hunt em kinda like you would deer. But i have only fall turkey hunted once so i really wouldn't know.

I don't have much fall hunting experience but I do know that turkeys act a lot like quail in the fall. So I have heard of guys busting the flock and then calling them back in. Sort of like when a covey of quail is busted they will start whistleing at each other. Not sure exactly what call works best for that. I have even heard of guys who use dogs to bust the flock. Myself I plan on just ambushing them like deer probably as they go back to the roost. Maybe if I bust some on the way in I will try to call.

i just hunt them like deer. find a field with lots of sign and sit there and wait for one to come up and call if u need to draw them a little bit closer once u see them. idk if its the best way but it works for me.

Fall turkeys are hard to hunt but it can be done, like the guys have said find a group of birds and try to bust them up, try to make sure they fly in all different directions, sit right down and start calling, use yelps and kee kee calls. You need to sound like a lost bird wanting its friends to come find you.
If you have cut crop fields and the birds are using them find out where they are entering the field and set up close to that spot, use a ground blind if you have one.
I personally just hope they walk by my stand while I'm waiting on Whitetails, they are hard to hit with a bow from a stand but its a fun challenge, good luck!
