I got a couple jigs over the winter and I've used them a little but no bites. Post any ideas or ways to use them if you think they will help me at least get a bite. I have never used one so any help would be great.

i usually use a green or a brown colored jig if there is little or no cover use a jig with a light wire hook so youll get better hook ups if not use a flipping model i always put on a craw trailer of some sort also a crawfish scent will help next take the plastic brush guard and spread them out and push them away from the hook to make it more weedless and aid in hooksets i fish it during the summer around rocks and near shallow cover with short jigs or just drag it across the bottom if you get no hits cast out in deeper water and yo yo it up and down near weed edges

The "Jig and Pig" used to be one of my favorite ways to catch bass. I always had more luck with the real pork rind trailers than the plastic ones, but I'm sure todays new scented trailers would be just as good. I also like hair jigs better than plastic. I like to imagine how a crawdad moves underwater and try to create that action when fishing a bass jig. My favorite colors are the more natural ones like brown and black.

The only jig ive ever used and caught fish with is an arkie jig i do believe, never caught em on any thing but black and blue with pork rind trailers, ive tried lots of colors with lots of jigs but never had any luck, if your actually jigging it use larger rod movements than you wood with normal worms, tubes, etc. another effective way to catch fish with it is to swim it, basically u keep it movin and make it bounce a little, but thats sumthin i cant reely explain\

the only thing I've ever caught with a jig is a load of pond scum. Most waters I fish are loaded with weeds and scum though.
