St.Joe 7/2-7/4

The fishing has been fair with small bag limits but descent size fish. On 7/2 me and the wife went out of St.Joe after she got off of work. Did a little bit of perch fishing in 14 fow and caught some nice jumbo's. She's not a big fan of trolling around for salmon and trout,but I think I got her hook. After we ran out of perch minnows I asked if we could do a little bit of trolling around. So we motored out to 50 fow and set lines and had a nice KING in the boat probably five minutes after the last line was in the water. We ended up going 5 for 7 that evening in about two hours,just before the sun went down. All of the kings where 10-12 pounds with one steel head around 7pds. After she got to find out what mister king is all about,she asked me to take her back on 7/4, an leave the perch rods at home. We got back to the marks I made on the gps around 5:30 p.m it was a little bit slower with only boxing 3 fish. Two kings and one steel head and several other quick releases. The chrome/green j-plug was our hottest lure on 8 colors of lead. Moonshine spoons Mongolian beef took a couple and flounder pounder took one or two fish. All the fish came in 50 to 65 fow and anywhere from 30 to 45 foot down. We had a lot of fun and got to watch the fire crack show while we were fishing,it was pretty cool. I did here that the steel head action finally did pick up at Michigan city this weekend and a few kings are being caught.
