OK guys, what is your favorite bass lure between a buzz bait and a spinner bait during the summer days. I have been using a buzz bait for the past few days and I have been getting quite a few strikes each day but i was wondering if a spinner bait would produce even more. I honestly haven't used a spinner bait for quite a while but if its going to produce more and bigger fish I would definitely be more than willing to switch. If you could tell me what your preference is and why, also color choices, that would be awesome. Thanks!

well i like spinnerbaits better use clearer greens albino or sexy shad if its the middle of the day and clear water and solid colors like white and chartreuse if the water is cloudy or stained then with buzzbaits i like a light colored one for the early morning and and dark or black one at night I usually dont get much on em in the day but there are times it works i prefer a popper of some sort in the middle of the day always use trailer hooks on both oh and if you want get around a half ounce spinnerbait in black for night fishing i usually throw it on spinning gear so you dont backlash hope that helps

in my opinion, those are two very different lures. I don't think they are interchangeable. buzzbaits are surface lures and spinner baits swim under the surface at different depths depending on the weights. I prefer to use buzzbaits early and late in the day when bass are cruising the shallows hunting. I think spinner baits are better when the bass are deeper which is usually during the warmer hours of the day. It also depends on the size and depth of the water you are fishing. spinner baits can be deadly when worked over rocky points where the water drops off into a deep pool. buzzbaits are best when worked around the edges of lily pads or other vegetation. Also, if you miss a strike on a buzzbait, it is usually worth a shot to quickly follow up with a worm or grub in the area of the missed strike. that bass is probably still there.

I agree with every thing said above. I personally don't use spinner baits much, but I do like using buzz baits. My favorite color is grey or black.

thanks guys. i have been using a buzz bait the past few days and caught a good 6 pounder with it. i love topwater, but i don't get too many strikes, but when i do my heart starts pumping. i guess i will start taking two rods with me and throw buzz bait and spinner bait and see what works best when, where, and what time of day.

I used to love spinnerbaits but i have begun swapping them out for chatter baits, i throw ribbit frogs which are similar to buzzbaits, topwater frogs, and jitterbugs for topwater

thanks bass master. i use the zoom horny toads a lot with good success but the good thing about the buzzbait and jitterbug is they don't get torn up and you don't have to replace them every time you catch a couple bass. lol

I like spinner baits the best, all black in 3/8 oz with a number 2 Indiana blade or Colorado at night time. 3/8oz because if you want it to go deeper just reel it in slower if you want it shallower reel it in faster. I also like to tip this with a white tailer and a trailer hook, slow roll it just above the weeds and hold on. You never know when the big bite is coming. But with all this said, the lure that is going to catch the most fish is the one you have the most confidence in,because you are going to use it the most.
just my .02 cents worth

I would say that spinners are better. "so far" i have had a lot of bites in the past but its hard to set the hook sometimes. But i never really used a buzz bait and i am looking forward to getting one. i am sticking to fake worms because i have had a lot of luck with them.
