Went out to Shakamak this morning to try and catch a few gills at Lake Lenape. With a north wind, I new a couple good spawning areas I wanted to try. Got out there and it was a stiff south-westerly breeze. (Why do I even check the weather anymore?) I had the lake pretty much to myself, there was one boat that came and went, then another launched as I was leaving.
Found a few on the nests, but the weeds were so bad it was tough getting them in.
I went over to the high banked side and found some nesting in deeper, more open water and caught 4 right away. I thought I was really into them and then about 11 am they just shut off. I caught a bass and a couple warmouth after that and called it a day at 2:00.
Ended up with 6; 5 nice bluegill and one decent redear.
I seen a lot of empty nests, not sure if the cold weather and rain has pushed them off or what.
