We did a little after school fishing yesterday over at G-S State Forest. Chase was in his kayak and Booey and me were in the 2 man. We were hoping to catch some of those big redear in there, but could only manage smaller ones. We did see some BIG ones on the nest in about 6-10 feet of crystal clear water, but we didn't find them until almost time to go and we spooked 'em, so they wouldn't bite. We could have had a mess if we were keeping them, but it was CPR only on this trip. We caught 8 or 10 around this size: I did talk to a couple guys who had been bluegill fishing up on the north end and had caught some nice ones. They were also trolling for rainbows on the way out and caught a couple as they went by, but I didn't think to ask how they were doing it until they were out of sight.

That's not good news for those of us who usually come down later in May and catch the bedding 'gills and 'ears. Seems like it's a little early this year. What do you think? I see you must like Airline pit. I have never fished it but have contemplated it many times. How do you usually go about catching pannies on the beds? I have several methods that work pretty well that I will share with you shortly.

Maybe this weekends rains and cooler weather will slow things down. I usually just use worms fished tight line to catch them while on the beds.
