These rules help me in the hills of Parke County, if your talking stripper hills then I am sure they could be incorporated somewhat.
Always locate from atop the ridges, you and the bird can hear better.
Don't try to call em across the ridges get on the ridge with em.
For some reason it is hard to call a bird down hill but they will run up hill, I think I got that right it may be the opposite.
Try not to put a fence or a creek in between you and the bird. If you have to, then give it time.
Where I hunt the birds almost always flydown in the morning to the valley floor then feed up hill to the ridge tops. They roost on the limbs overhanging the valley as well, caution will need to be used if entering the woods through the valley.
Anthony I could help ya if you need it.
