Well, I have never done much fishin' with dough bait type stuff, but I figured I'd give it a shot, since my cast net is in need of repair. 2 nights ago, I made up some dough bait. I put a Texas twist on BBB's "grandpa's secret catfish bait", and went to the lake just as it was gettin' dark. Also went to a lake that I haven't been on in like 14 years.
I set out a few jugs using my dough bait, and a few night crawlers that I found under my rabbit cages. spent about an hour and a half on the lake when my gas motor died. I couldn't get it started back, so I used trolling motor to go around pickin' up my jugs. Then my spotlight went out. How much bad luck can a guy have?
Well, when all was said and done, I caught 10 little channel cats, all between 2 - 5 lbs each (smaller than usual, but perfect eatin' size). My buddy was on the lake, runnin' jugs in his boat too. He only caught 2 (about same size as mine). He didn't want to get out the fillet knife for only 2 small fish, so he gave them to me. SO, I went home with 12 good eatin' size fish, filleted them, played with my puppies, cleaned up, and went to bed just as my wife was waking up.
I fried them up last night. We all got full, and then packed up the rest and delivered it to some elderly folks around here, who always enjoy a good fish dinner.
Like I always say, "A bad day on the water is better than a good day at work"

. The motor not starting and your spotlight running out sounds like our luck
