This is the last chance for us to get a fall turkey. We found some dust baths in a woods across the road from us so we will be doing a midday hunt there. Gonna get out the ol' 20 gauge single shot and set up against a dead tree. Wish us luck!!

Just because we're doing a midday hunt doesn't mean you can sleep til noon! It's 9:30 and the Great White Hunter Chase is still snoozing away!

Almost got it done yesterday. Had to walk through some standing corn to get to the woods. As we were walking out of the corn we walked right into a flock of hens. They busted up in a couple different directions. Perfect! We hightailed it around the edge of the field to the back side of the woods and set-up a hen decoy and made a few kee kee's. Immediately we had birds coming and calling back. Had birds calling back and forth from different directions for about a half hour, but they just would not come all the way in, they got within maybe 50 yds. Thinking maybe I should not have placed the decoy? For a while I was doing some soft kee kee's and this hen was talking back, finally she got mad and it was like she saying "Get over here now!!" Gonna go try again right now, the birds have a big ol' dusting area they're using around midday.

Good Luck!! I hope you can get Chase out of bed by noon.. We were in the woods around 10. Didn't see anything until we were walking out of the woods. There was 3 toms getting a drink at a little pond, but too far for a shot. They walked off and we booked it around the woods to cut them off. Got around the woods the same time as the toms and they walked out of range off the property we were hunting. Was walking home and spotted a bunch of hens in one of our food plots. They took off into our woods where our ground blind is, so we booked it around to try and cut them off, but was too late. This old farts wore out, but I think we are gonna go try it again...

Got out this evening at 3:45. Didn't see anything until 5:30. We spotted the "3 stooges" in our hay field. We watched the huge toms for a few minutes and they ran off. I was pretty sure I knew where they were roosting because I saw some toms in their roost while I was squirrel hunting and they were headed that way. A half an hour left of season and we started sneaking over to their roosts. We're over there and a turkey flies from the tree. I raise my gun waiting for the other two and they never flew down. We have no idea where the others went. So close!!
