Any shotgun will work for duck hunting. Iuse a remington 870 12 gauge the same gun i use for turkey hunting and the only shotgun my friend owns is a single shot 20 gauge that he uses for any kind of bird hunting.

I would say any 12g that you feel comfortable with will do the trick. You need a gun that you feel comfortable shouldering fast and accurate. The gun needs to feel good in the pocket of your shoulder. While duck or goose hunting its very fast and furious, the better your at with one fast motion to your shoulder then passing by the duck the better. Any gun can kill a duck, its all about practice at shooting. Duck hunters or upland game hunters usually shoot clays all year round. I personally use a Beretta Extrema 2. Its a little heavier than other guns but it fits well and I enjoy shooting it. As for ammo I use #2 or #4 for just about everything. I'll use BB if I'm just snow goose hunting or goose hunting late in the season. Brand depends on your gun and choke selection. Pattern several different kinds of ammo and choose the best that you can afford to shoot. Just my 2 cents.. or maybe that was 4...

i suggest that anyone that does not use 3 1/2 inch shells that often gets a gun that can shoot the max of 3 inch shells. therefore the cycle after you shoot will be alot smoother and faster. plus they are usualy cheaper. but i think the best duckgun made is the super black eagle 2 from benelli. but if you dont want to spend about 1300 bucks or more for a gun the remington model 11-87 is a good one too.

Even though its $1000, i would say its prolly the Benelli Vinci, i personally dont have the money for that type of gun so i use my Benelli Nova, when i bought the gun it was either between it or the Remington 870, I chose the nova mainly because it shoots 3 1/2 inch shells

Check out the mossberg 935. They are tough and a lot easier on the wallet. If not then check out the stoeger m2000 both semi auto for quick shots on them fast divers but not going to kill the wallet or shoulder too much. the M2000 does NOT take 3.5 but the 935 does. But find a gun that (as said in the thread already) fits you and not your buddys thinking. Good luck theres a lot of choices out there.

You can shoot ducks and geese with any 12 - 20 gauge, heck even a single shot will work. I have a Berreta Xtrema 2 and my opinion is that its the best waterfowl gun ever. Mine is in Max 4 camo and I love it! I think they changed the camo this year. I have used a Mossberg 535 and it was junk, I have used my 870 and it is just fine. I think the 870 is a necessity for any serious hunter, you just cant go wrong with it. I also use KENT Fast Steel shot shells, 3", I do not like 3.5" shells, I used KENT well before they decided to sponsor my business. I really like their ammo.
