Glad you were able to get out Doug! I don’t know about you, but Daffy and me are pretty sore this evening. 😂 I have been walking everyday for the last month. Some days a mile with the wife and some days 3-5 miles in the rabbit fields or on the trails near Goshen. Best shape I have been in the last 5 years. I have lost 60+ pounds over the last 4 months so other than getting a little cold to start with, I'm doing pretty good. My motto this winter -"Work less, hunt more".

Here's a couple of pics from my clean up hunt at Winamac this morning. 3 of us saw a total of 8 birds and only got shots at 5, harvesting 2. (I got 0, but had a blast just getting out) They told me the rookie had to take home and clean the birds so I was OK with that.

I love oyster dressing. Haven't had any in several years.

Finally got on the board this afternoon. A young guy with 2 young beagles stopped next to the field I was hunting and ask if he could join me with his dogs for a while. Of course I said, sure! His pups are only 5 and 6 months old he told me but they did a good job getting one up for us and running it in a big circle and back to me. Sure is a lot easier hunting when the dogs get into the briar patches. I got one finally, picture to post and a rabbit!!!

Dang dude! That is not good. Your company needs to get ready to give you a long break and let you get down to the fish camp for a couple of weeks this winter. Hopefully, 2024 gives you some relief.

Got a chance to hunt some land that was said "may" have some pheasant on. Area looked good, but no birds bumped this morning. My buddy with the GSH said we'd definitely get out after Thanksgiving and do the clean-up hunts. Great way to get some exercise for us and the dog. I'm not a big fan of a tub either, unless it has a "hot" in front of it. Seems like a good use of the space.

Another quick morning hunting in the field and then a little scouting of some new areas yet to walk. Heard some beagles running a rabbit, but still no rabbits went in my game pouch. Probably give the weekend a break to let the worker bees have their go at it. Maybe it will cool down again next week.

The first trip out was great exercise at Tri-County FWA. Forgot how much energy it takes to wade through waist high grass and briars. I lasted just over an hour and a half. Covered some good areas in that time, but think I need to find somewhere with a little easier walking unless I can convince my buddy from Kokomo to come up and bring his dog. Typical FWA property with crop rows of corn and sunflowers. Lots of honeysuckle filled tree lines and fence rows. At 10:30 there were only 3 people signed to hunt small game. I did not see any rabbits. Heard a hunter's dog running one in the next area across the road. I talked to him and they had not got the rabbit yet, still running. Oh well, till next time. Sure was fun getting out for a while in a little snow up here.
