Sounds like we're getting closer to being able to use outboards on Kickapoo. What do you all think? Is it a good thing or not?
Hearing Set for Boat Motors
The Department of Natural Resources will hold a June 7 public meeting at Shakamak State Park to take comments on a proposal to allow gas-powered boat motors on the park's Lake Kickapoo. Currently all of three of the park's lakes allow only electric trolling motors. To help boaters better contend with wind and waves on Kickapoo, the park's largest lake, there have been requests to allow gas-powered boat motors. Before making any decision on the request, the DNR will hold the meeting, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the park's Tulip shelter. If public sentiment is favorable, the next step would be to amend the DNR Property Rules Regulations for adoption in 2010.

There's someone from the DNR at Kickapoo taking a "creel survey" and this is one of the questions he asked. I voted yes. It will be idle speed only though. It sounds like the state is also going to a 25 fish limit for bluegill/redear too.
