Went down to the pond again yesterday to try and thin out the crappie a little. You could see them in that clear water stacked up under a log. Caught them on worms, jigs, and a rooster tail. Brought home 8 to clean. Had something BIG on a nightcrawler that broke me off. I'm thinking carp. It sure was a beautiful day....lower 70's!

I take it you guys put the carp in the pond? No, not sure where the carp came from. Only thing I can think of is my grandpa use to keep a wire cage live well down there with bait fish for his river fishing and maybe they got loose? That would make them pretty old though. There's 2 in there that we've seen/caught. The "know it all" commenters on youtube say we shouldn't release them back into the pond when we catch them, but the pond is so clear and seems so healthy....why would we mess with that? Maybe the carp have something to do with it?

What would the know-it-alls do without the internet?
I take it your pond has a few years on it?
