I learned something today....ice fishing in the rain SUCKS! Kipper Jim and me started off on Kickapoo and had to get back in a cove to avoid the biting wind. I caught a 3" pumpkin seed before we decided to head over to Shakamak Lake. We got our holes drilled just in time for it to start raining. We stuck it out for a while, but the fish I was marking weren't biting, so we waved the white flag. It's pouring right now and I'm afraid the ice will be toast by the time I'm off again.

They're talking another big cool down starting next weekend, so maybe there will be enough ice left to eek out a couple more days.

I learned something today....ice fishing in the rain SUCKS! I AGREE!!! It's a shame too. Sam and I finally found some fish at Chinook FWA about the time the ice/rain started. Hit 3 different pits in the morning with very few bites and 2 fish on the ice. Finally hit the lake right next to I-70 and started catching fish. Not a lot of size but did end up with a decent mess. Ended up with 16 keepers before the rain chased us off the ice.

That's a good mess. I take it there is no slot at Chinook?

I literally live 5 minutes from Chinook, never heard of a slot size. We caught a few small redear last week but put them back. only had 3 fish that day. Nice mess though
