When I was out at Island this evening there was a guy out there fishing from one. He parked at the north end and floated around the area. Not sure how he did. I was going to ask him about the tube but before I knew it he was gone. Has anyone here fished from one? This has my interest especially to use with the electric only waters. I doubt I'll musky fish from one but fishing for trout and gills from one of these would be great imo. Figure in cost of the tube, waders and flippers would be well under $500 (depending on what type of tube and waders you buy). Surely you wouldn't have to put a sticker on these things? Oh yeah, a portable electric air pump would be a must too.

Was is it this guy? He has a blog and fishes the area a lot.
If so, I've also seen him out there and it looked like he was getting around pretty good. Not sure on the sticker? But I wouldn't be surprised if you did need one.

Got a reply back from him this morning. He did confirm that a $5 non-motorized sticker is required for the float tubes. He was told by the DNR that it was ok to keep it in a plastic bag and store it in one of the pockets on the tube. He did state that within the next few days that he is going to post a vid about fishing from a float tube. I'm going to keep an eye out for it when it hits. Oh yeah, it was him at Island Sunday. He left there after only catching one trout and headed for Black Cat. He said he managed a batch of bass and that was it.

I have one and like it. I use it on a gravel pit up here. I got mine through Bass Pro. Be sure to get a good pair of flippers. The kind that strap on your feet. I wear neoprene stocking foot waders during the spring and fall and shorts during the summer. Takes a little getting used to when moving, but easy to use when you get the hang of it. Nice and quiet too and good exercise.
