I'm in a debate with a friend about giving my dog raw deer bone. He continues to tell me it can kill my dog if he eats bones. My argument is that I have always given my dogs deer bones. They are in fact carnivorous and same as a coyote or wolf, K9s. I have never had a problem before. Has anyone ever had a dog die or have complications from eating non-cooked, raw deer bone.

Never heard of such a thing. I have heard of people giving their dogs antlers to chew on/eat.

they may be carnivorous, but I wouldn't think they would have the same acids/bacteria in there stomache without eating raw meat regularly. With that being said, my dogs kill rabbits occasionally and eat them. My neighbor swears if you feed your dog chicken bones it'll kill them but, we've also always done that. come to think of it, my dogs have showed up with some random deer legs before. and my grandmas dog always finds cow legs. So, IMO, you should be fine givng the legs to your deer.

The only bones I've ever heard of not to give a dog is poultry bones. My old beagle devoured bones and it never hurt him. We had a local BBQ joint where we could pick of pork rib bones that were smoked for hours. My dog would go bonkers over these things. But, I think it all depends what kind of dog you have. I don't think a yorkshire terrier is going to be devouring a big ol' deer leg bone

Beef/pork bones they can handle due to the fact that they don't splinter.

If raw deer bones killed dogs, Max would have been a goner 14 years ago. Even the years we haven't killed deer he has found scraps to drag up in the yard.
