The bite was a little slow at my West Island on Saturday. I caught a couple of rock bass and one gill.. It seems that the redear are starting to bed, but it seemed as if the gills aren't quite there yet. I had a few crickets left, so I went to my f-i-l's buddy's place to use the rest of them. I was catching a gill on just about every cast and noticed a couple of times the big bass were going after the smaller gills as I reeled them into the bank. I remembered I had some of the new 5/0 Trokar hooks and thought they'd be perfect, so I threw a dinky bluegill on one and I was able to hook up with this nice bass... It is hard trying to hold your phone and snapping a picture of a five pound bass by yourself.

It barely looks like you're struggling to hold the fish and take a pic at the same time LOL! You have a pissed off look like you are about to throw the camera or something

The pissed off look is probably more from that bass chewing up my thumb. I bet I tried to take that picture six times before I had one turn out okay.
