I started the culling last Sunday. I am normally a live bait person, but had a few artificial baits I picked up at Spurlin's. I tested out a beetle spin and was happy with the results. I hooked up with a bass within the first five casts, but he was a dink. I caught five more and all were dinks, except for one that was twelve to fourteen inches. Not bad for about a half an hour of fishing. I felt bad, but I tossed them on the bank. Hopefully some of the local critters appreciated the snack.

I really hope the fishing stays as good as it has been so far. I was out Saturday for around fifteen minutes and caught three bass, two of which were big enough that I tossed them back. I thought I needed to leave some in there for May. I had a crappie on the line that was probably around a pound, but the hook popped out when I had it next to the dock. I learned to always have a dip net.
My grandma called me on Sunday to tell me that she caught a dozen bass from the small dock and one from the big dock. She said she had a bite every time she threw her line out.

I thought that I should warn anyone who will be attending, I think there is a Squatch in the woods behind my grandma's house. I found this sculpture on Friday... Also, the bass fishing is still red hot at West Island. I just hope it stays that way.

I have to admit it was a little unusual. No one, that I know of, is ever back there and the limbs were tied to the tree with a small piece of a grape vine.

I saw a big channel cat cruising around on Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. If someone is able to get it in their boat or on the bank, they win the prize.

Less than a month away! So who all is planning on attending? I'm looking forward to it. I was watching Outdoors in the Heartland yesterday and they were catching and keeping dink bass on private property and talking about how much it helped the lakes to take out the over abundant bass and how good of eatin' they were.

I was just getting ready to bump this, but I see you took care of it for me. We will be two weeks out from this Saturday.
Anyone that plans on showing up, let me know and I will get you directions.
If anyone has any questions let me know as well. I am going to try and make it down there Friday evening so I can do some grounds keeping.
