The wind made things a little rough yesterday, but I did catch my first fish of the year...

Bee moth. It is surprisingly hard to find live bait this time of year. All the shops in Linton were closed, Dirty Harry's at the 4-Way Bridge was closed and all the bait at the gas stations was dead. I had to settle on going to Trotter's in Sullivan.

He is located behind the old grocery store on the curve heading out of Linton towards Dugger. I believe there is one other bait shop in Linton that is kind of behind the Sunoco. I don't know of any other bait shops in Linton. Minner's was the place to go, but sadly he closed up shop last year.

I did catch my first fish of the year... You motivated me. Went down to the pond and caught my first of 2012 this evening. Caught 2 bass on a little brownish orange rooster tail.

Is the coloring on bass slightly different in the winter? That one doesn't look as dark green as normal.

It happens in all water color change thouh. In clear water, when vegetation is present, they will have alot more green. Where as when in murky water, where you can't see through to the vegetation, and a dark color would silhouette, thy'll be alot more silver.

Took the boys by my moms for a visit today after work. Decided to go out to the pond and cast a few. All I had there was an old ultralite with a little lead head jig and a 2" white curly tail grub. Will caught this crappie and one more about this size. Leo caught this "boo geeeellll" with a little help from me. His first fish. I think if I had my gear and more time we could of had a mess.
