House Bill 3261, also known as SOPA(Stop Online Piracy Act), and Senate Bill 968, also known as the PROTECT IP Act (Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011 or PIPA) could have a profound effect on the internet as we know it. At first glance these bills seem like a good idea; giving the intellectual property owners(movie studios/record labels) the ability to pull the plug on foreign sites that are allowing illegal downloads of their copyrighted material. The problem is that the "intellectual property owners"(major corporations for the most part) will have TOO MUCH power to CENSOR what we see on the net. They'll be able to block the foreign sites by going after our internet service providers, websites where the links are posted, and more. I could go on an on, but just do an internet search on SOPA and PIPA to find out for yourself. This ain't China!!

I signed the petition earlier. I just hope that others are doing the same thing.

No search is needed Troy, all one needs to do is open Google, and you just have to click on the blacked out logo. It will take you DIRECTLY to the petition. www.google.com/landing/takeaction/
