what tips do you have for buck fever?i have that bad. Oh man, I have to be one of the worst EVER when it comes to buck fever. I'm 44 years old and still get buck & turkey fever. One thing that helps me is when a deer first comes in I make a quick decision on whether I'm going to take it or not. After I've told myself that this is a deer I'm going to take.....I find a spot that I want to shoot and that's all I concentrate on.....I don't look at the rack again. I broke this rule 1 time since I started bow hunting. I had a buck come in that I decided to pass on, but after he hung around forever and was a little bigger than I first thought, I decided I needed to shoot. I ended up sticking the buck right in the shoulder blade and never did find him. I hope this helps a little, maybe someone else can give some better advice? I will say one thing though; buck fevers not all a bad thing. I mean, what other past time are you gonna do that gets you so pumped up that your whole body shakes!!

I have it TERRIBLE. It's not just bucks for me, I don't know what it is. Maybe it was just super bad last year because down it my parts we didn't see many deer. I saw 5 does late in the season in a shooting house, and I litteraly shook the whole thing for about 45 minutes. The worst I have ever had it was last December when I was hunting from the GROUND in a place with very little cover, that I had only see does at. I had my bow on my lap and was sitting in a lawn chair, really not even trying. Had the biggest buck I had ever seen in my life poke his head out of the brush (he came out of NO WHERE, never heard or saw him before hand) and then he spotted me and ran off. I'm pretty sure I didn't stop shaking the rest of the day.
I would say just shoot a doe or something to get the itch off the first part of the season, maybe it will calm your nerves a little knowing that you already have something in the bag!

Just a deer is what i try tell myself, just a deer and many people have killed bigger, much bigger. last week I PASSED on 2 mature does and a smaller one at 28yards, because they had something chasing them, and its hard not to get the fever when a few minutes later you all you see is a 10 PT RACK comin right at you, and gruntin...he ended up freezin at 45 then turnin to the does, but i was able to helfway subdue the fever until he was gone, theen i was scared to fall out of my stand!

I dont really get the fever before i shoot somehow i just tell myself if i get nervous now im gonna mess something up, so i just tell my self to calm down and if its gonna happen its gonna happen. but after i shoot i deer i cant stop shaking for about 20 minutes. even when i missed the big ten a few weeks ago i wasnt shaking until after i realized i had missed and had no more shots. then i about shook the stand out of the tree.
