I had to head to K county yesterday to pick up some of my camping gear. I went up to the Pere Marquette for our annual salmon trip but had to abort as i took ill with a severe case of acute bronchitis. (Dr said i was lucky i came home when i did...if i would have stuck it out, like i had wanted, i would have most likely came home in a body bag as i was in just that rough a shape and my oxygen levels were that low...talk about a good run of bad luck, lose my hunting spot 3 weeks before season opens, then have to miss the biggest run of the biggest fish in over 50 years a week later ) So, i just left a lot of the gear there in camp as it was already set up and the guys needed the gear for a comfy rest of the week. i.e. camp stove, grill, 20 lb propane cylinder etc.
ANYWHO, not one to waste, i figured i already burned the gas getting out to my buds in K county, might as well hit the Tri county FWA shooting range for a while.
The wife, as some of you may have read before, is a newbie to shooting. What experience she has had with firearms (before meeting me) was decidedly BAD. I have always tried to get her to learn. But i have taken my time, and let her go at her pace. Never pushing, never criticizing. When she is ready to move on she says something. Starting out with .22's then pistols. Well, of late she has been coming along quite nicely and in the recent past has become more and more confident in her skills. Last time out she asked to step up with the new (to me) Ruger Model 44. She fired 3 rounds down range and that was enough. Yesterday, she decided she wanted to take the 44 by the horns and go full bore.
I will let the video tell the rest of the tale...to say i am impressed would be an understatement. A lot of guys would have trouble showing this off as it would hurt their pride. (Lord knows i will never hear the end of it from my buddies) But i am at ease with it as she is one of my students. I have ALWAYS maintained that a well trained woman will outshoot a well or better trained man any day of the week.
Daddy's PROUD...please ignore my directional dyslexia....
and another....
As for me, I am learning that this Model 44 is a FLAT shooter...she hits the same elevation be it 50yds or 100 yds. Me Likey that!!
Heres my (poor) results of the session...
5 rounds, slow fire....
10 rounds, rapid fire....
