My late grandfather, Dempsey Bell, was mentioned in an article from our local newspaper last week about B-W Spinner lures. From The Jasonville Independent; Local resident Bob May brought this lure into the Independent last week and explained its origin. The bass bait was made and sold in Jasonville, and the one pictured here was purchased by Bob's father, Frankie May. May explained, "Bill Walters owned a drug store and was an avid bass fisherman. He designed and patented this bait. Dempsey Bell added the hooks, etc. for him". Also, Bob noted Walters sold his patent rights to South Bend Bait and Tackle Company, and it was sold as a B-W Spinner. Here's another pic of some B-W Spinner lures; I'll have to ask dad if he has any of these. I remember using some of my Grandpa's when I was a kid. I probably lost them all!

If not already, I bet those things will be big bucks in the next 20 or so years. Are they top water?

I wan't to get into making some topwaters myself exploring many options at this point so stay tuned!

If those were sold at Bill Humphrey's gun shop in Jasonville in the l mid seventy's I have one in my tackle box. The back spinner is a little different though.
