Hi, my name is Capt. Rick and I own and operate Erie Quest Charters on Lake Erie. I have had my USCG Captain's License since 1984, but more importantly I love to fish for Walleye and Smallmouth Bass. Ever since my grandfather taught me in the early 1960's.
I will have the pleasure of fishing on Lake Erie this coming April, 2009, with Troy, Chase, and other BBB friends. We will be jig-n-minnow fishing for walleye, when it is not uncommon to boat over a 100+ walleye in a day or to hook into a 13 pound trophy Lake Erie walleye.
A bit more about me...I am a fisherman at heart and always have been. I guide and fish with many fine filks, on different occasions. Also, I have 5 of my own children from 7 to 26 years old, and as such, our fishing charters are family friendly. Whether you're a novice fisherman or seasoned angler, we aim to meet your needs.
Typically, we fish out of Meinke Marina West, 10 minutes east ot Toledo, April - July. That's because this marina offers close access to the spring Walleye bite in the Maumee Bay and as the water warms, an excellent departure point to deeper waters near the Toledo Shipping Channel & West Sister Island area. It's the closest marina to West Sister Island - at 9 miles, compared to 20 miles on the water from Port Clinton. A lot less time riding in the boat to get to the fishing grounds.
August thru October, I operate out of Winke's Landing on Catawba Island. This is our departure point as we head to the distant Canadian waters surrounding Pelee Island. Trophy Walleye and world class Smallmouth Bass are plentiful in these waters.
My boat is a 30' Great lakes Fisherman and offers a very stable ride, even in bumpy water. The boat has a private, enclosed head, and a stand up - roomy cabin. As far as coming this way to fish, I have access to lodging, including several well furnished homes in the area for my guests - with air conditioning, cable TV, fully furnished kitchens, BBQ grill, microwave, towels & linens, coffemaker, etc... you get the picture. If, I can answer any questions or you need advice when you take your own rig to the "Big Pond" - give me a call. Tight lines.
