No, I'm still looking for a bargain. That thing looks SWEET!! Hope you can get it figured out before the ice melts. Be sure and let us know how you like it. Have you ever used a flasher or anything before on the ice?

I've never owned one but ALL my fishing buddies have them and I've used 'em many times. I can do alright without one if we are fishing in 15' or less of water. Once we get deeper, they out fish me at least 3-1. Then when we go real deep (40' or more) for walleyes and late season crappies I have little chance. I decided after last season I wasn't going another year without one! I almost bought one right after ice out last year. Now I'm glad I waited for this new model. This has everything I want in a fish finder.

That is AWESOME, that flasher will change your life. They are a ton of fun and addictive tho, the first time you see a school of suspended fish swim in on that thing you will be like a kid in a candy store. Just reel up to em and let em have it. Congrats.

strippitman you will enjoy that flasher! I own a Vexilar but I was checking those Hummingbird units out at BassPro. They are very nice units. I would not be caught out on the ice without one. Give us an official report on it when you can.

Well fellas, I got to use my new flasher yesterday evening I gotta say this thing is the cat's arse! The features on this unit are endless. It has pretty much everything I was looking for in sonar unit. It can be used like a standard flasher, or you can change screens and use it like a Marcum Showdown, change screens again and you have a standard color fish graph, it has GPS for marking spots and being able to go right back to them, has mapping capabilites. I couldn't be happier! I became the envy of all my fishing buddies last night with this unit. I think I coulda sold a few on the ice last night to guys being nosey. They loved it too! One of my favorite features is a split screen thing you can do where 3/4 of the screen is a normal color fish graph that gives you structure reading/bottom composition and the other 1/4 of the screen is like a Marcum Showdown. With this setup I can see my jig (in the 1/4 screen) in relation to the bottom. It allows me to be able to put my jig right in the structure or inches above it to pull fish out of it. This, to me, is a powerful feature! One of the things I was worried about before using it was the small screen size (in comparison to a Vex or HBird). But, the screen is so bright (can be dimmed also) it makes up for its lack of size. As a matter of fact, my buddy with a Vex said he thinks my screen is easier to read than his. In my opinion, Humminbird is selling these units too cheap for what you get. I feel I got a whole lot for $400. This is probably the only time I've felt good after spending that kind of money I give this unit 5 stars out of 4! After all that, me and my buddy caught 18 fish between us but they were mostly undersized. I probably coulda caught more but I was so caught up in checking out all the features of my new sonar that I wasn't truly fishing a whole lot.

Thats so cool, glad you got to go out and play with your new toy. Welcome to flasher addiction support group, sounds like you are now a member, lol. That subtle humming sound that my vex makes is a peaceful to me as a good BB King toon, lol.

I went out walking around the property today, and made my way onto the pond. Was a warm day today, and all the snow was meltin. Lastnight we got a good HARD FREEZE! I mostly just walked around the pond picking up any trash I found, and did some Ice testing. Most of it is pretty solid with about 3 inches. The shallow side I walked all the way across.(about 30 yds) I did'nt venture out to the deep end of the pool, It is Ice capped, but I am still going to give it a WHILE before I go out there. I may do some shallow side fishing soon If my new blades for my auger ever get here.

That thing sounds just about perfect, Matt. Were you happy with compuplus.com? Looks like they've got good prices on all the humminbird electronics.
