Indiana Info Fishing Report
The Weekend Report The fishing reports will be continually up-dated through-out the Holiday weekend. Please keep those fishing reports and speed trap info coming in. indianafishing@hotmail
Raccoon Lake fishing report: Mostly small crappie and small bass being caught.
Glenn Flint Fishing Report: Bass fishing is poor. A few decent crappie being caught in the standing timber at the mouths of coves
Patoka lake fishing report: Bass fishing has been mixed at Patoka. Some anglers reporting a good bite while others can't seem to find a decent fish. Outside weed lines near points in 12 to 20 feet deep water. Slugo's, crankbaits, and plastic's are catching a few fish.
Dogwood Lake fishing report: Panfishing has begun picking back up. Some nice bluegill being caught on red worms, crickets, and bee moth. Crappie are scattered along weed lines and anglers are catching them by trolling.
Farm ponds and pits: Some decent bluegill and catfishing. Some nice flatheads coming out of farm ponds on live creek chubs and small bluegill. Night fishing has been good for bass with plastic's and top-waters.
Monroe reservoir fishing report: A few striped bass being taken in 25 to 30 feet deep water on live bluegill and cut bait. Crappie can be found in 20 to 30 feet deep water on the main lake. Lots of small ones being caught in the bays and coves. No bass fishing reports from here, so I'd guess the bite to be slow.
White River fishing report: Anglers who are getting out in the high water are catching some nice flatheads on live baits. A few carp and buffalo being caught. Channel cats have just about shut down.
Morse reservoir fishing report: Crappie: Fish are in 8-13' of water, mainly on stumps. Water is very murky. Most fish caught are dinks with an occasional keeper once in a while. Bass fishing has been slow with a few keeper size fish being taken around boat docks.
Cataract lake fishing report (Cagles Mill fishing report): Fishing is slow and water is very high. A few catfish, carp, and crappie being caught. Crappie are 8-12 ft down in 15-20ft of water
Salamonie reservoir fishing report: Catfishing has been good. A few walleye being caught below the dam.
When the Salamonie Reservoir is at summer pool, good fishing for catfish can be found near the shoreline near the Pirates Cove Marina. Many anglers walk down the Lost Bridge West Boat Ramp and along the shoreline to their fishing spots. Catfish anglers can also be successful in other coves and fingers of the lake. The Salamonie River upstream of the lake is a good fishery for channel catfish. Anglers are more successful in stretches of the river that are slow and deep. There has not been much fishing activity due to extremely high water levels and muddy lake conditions. Boating conditions are poor due to floating debris.
Hovey Lake fishing report: Reporting a very poor bite for everything.
Mississinewa Reservoir fishing report: Catfishing has been good. Bait: Frozen chubs, night crawlers, chicken livers, and cut shad
Depth: In reservoir on bottom (10-20 feet), holes in river. Bass fishing has been slow. A few bluegill being caught near the banks in 5 to 7 feet deep water.
Lake Michigan fishing report: Anglers have been catching channel catfish off the piers at the Portage Lakefront Park & in MC over the past couple of weeks. According to anglers, productive baits include N/C, chunks of chicken livers or commercially prepared catfish baits fished right on the bottom. Very little fishing activity targeted towards trout & salmon this past week due to unfavorable lake/weather conditions. Those anglers lucky enough to get offshore were rewarded with nice catches. MC boat anglers report action for coho, kings, steelhead & lakers N of the lighthouse in water depths between 80-125 FOW. Magnum sized spoons fished anywhere from 58-115' down proved effective. EC anglers report action for coho, kings & steelhead NW to NE of the gong in water depths to 85 FOW. D/F combos, spoons & meat rigs were the hot baits according to anglers.
Hammond Marina: Outstanding Yellow Perch action reported by anglers fishing late last week & into the weekend. Anglers stated that action was occurring in the Cal Park area in water depths between 12-16 FOW. EC anglers report action outside the marina entrance & along the Inland Steel wall in water depths to 28 FOW. Portage Marina: Action at the Donut, E to Dunes SP in water depths ranging from 25-33 FOW. MC anglers report action out-front of Black’s Ditch, W towards Beverly Shores in water depths to 30 FOW.
Ohio river fishing report: Striped bass fishing was slow this past week. Live bait or plastics, or crankbaits fished into the tail waters or slack waters at the dam's seem to be yielding the best results when fish are in the area. Catfish, mostly four to six pounds with some over 10 pounds, are also being caught with both live bait or cut bait fished under a bobber and off the bottom.
Summit Lake fishing report: Some nice walleye being taken trolling and drifting the flats in the main lake. Fish off the weed lines early morning. then when the sun gets high the bites going to shut down. Fish are 15 to 22 feet deep. No other reports.
Brookville reservoir fishing report: Most small channel cats and bluegill being caught.
Clear View Pay Lake: Some big fish being caught. Flatheads and blue cats. The bite is good
Catfish Charlie's Pay Lake: Lots and lots of channel cats being taken. Nightcrawlers seem to be the best bait.
All reservoirs in central and southern Indiana are still high and murky. All rivers are beginning to come down.

Indiana Campground and Indiana State Park Info
Campsites, shelters available for Independence Day weekend
State park and reservoir campsites/cabins are 85 percent booked for Independence Day weekend, so time still remains to plan a holiday outing to one of Indiana's "treasures in your own backyard."
Christie Wilmoth, reservation system program manager with the DNR Division of State Parks and Reservoirs, said that 50 percent of the reservable shelters and recreation buildings are booked, meaning that it's also still possible to reserve one for a day outing for a large gathering of family and friends.
"The weather is supposed to be great, so if people haven't made plans yet, there are still outstanding opportunities out there," Wilmoth said.
As with any other time, reservations can be made for campsites until noon the day of arrival. The minimum stay at a campsite for the upcoming weekend is Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, with checkout on July 5. Reservations for shelters can be made until the close of call center business the day before arrival. To reserve a cabin, campsite or shelter, visit www.camp.IN.gov or call 1-866-6CAMPIN (1-866-622-6746).
If you want to camp but haven't made up your mind where to go or just plain need more information, property maps and facility information can be viewed at www.stateparks.IN.gov.
Wilmoth said the number of weekend reservations at this point is consistent with what she's observed the last four years.
"This is pretty typical for Independence Day weekend," she said. "We do well, but we haven't been full like we are over Memorial Day."
Usually the trend is back to full, weeks in advance, for Labor Day weekend, so even though it may be tough to think about the end of summer, now is not too early to make reservations for the last big weekend of the season.
Severe weather caused some features at some properties to close during the past few weeks. All facilities at all of properties are open now, with the following exceptions.
-Cagles Mill Lake: The campground, pool and other facilities are open. Boat ramps are flooded and limited parking is available. The beach is closed at Lieber SRA. Call (765) 795-4576 for local updates.
-Monroe Lake: The beach at Paynetown SRA is open, as is the lake and all other facilities. The beach at Fairfax SRA is currently closed. For local updates call (812) 837-9546.
-Shades State Park: The backpack/canoe campground is closed, but all other facilities remain open. For local information, call (765) 597-2635.
-Cecil M. Harden Lake (Raccoon SRA): The main launching ramp in Raccoon SRA is open, but all other ramps are closed except for the Walker Ramp, and boats must be backed down to the water there. The beach in Raccoon SRA is closed. The campground is open, and shuttles are being provided to the boat rental docks. Fireworks originally scheduled for Saturday, July 3, have been rescheduled for Sept. 4. For the latest conditions, call (765) 344-1412.
-Versailles State Park: The Shadow Run loop of the mountain bike trail system might be open in time for the weekend. Trail crews continue to work on it. The rest of the mountain bike trail system remains open for riding. For the latest conditions, call (812) 689-6424.
Please everyone, be extra careful out there this holiday weekend. Have fun and enjoy, and please make sure to wear those life jackets !
Good fishing everyone !
