Went out tonight and for the first time this year got some real action. Called in 3 bucks tonight using the Illusion Game calls Extinguisher deer call and MAD calls Growler. The first was a high racked 7 point he was a good buck he was just to young. The second buck was a 8 point that was wide he just had short tines and not much mass. The third was a definite shooter 12 point about 3 to 4 inches outside his ears and good mass he just never presented a clean shot like the other 2.
But they are definitely starting cruise the lull is over.

Good to hear the big boys are moving. We saw a fork horn around 6:30 and a doe around 7:00. Does that Extinguisher call work as good as advertised?

Me and a buddy spotlighted for a little bit last night and did see quite a few but not many bucks.

Yes the Extinguisher call works great I won't go in the woods deer hunting without it. It was cold enough here that it actually froze the call up this morning and all you have to do is run the slider up and down to free it and it worked perfect the rest of the morning. Called in 2 more bucks tonight but neither one was on my list of shooters |

Does seem like the "buck switch" has been flipped. Saw three bucks on my way home from work this morning and a dandy close to the house as I was leaving tonight. Can't wait to get Sam back out there.

I rattled in a small buck around 9:00 this morning. I got a kick out of watching him sneak around to get down wind of me. Right as he got behind me I sprayed some of the Big Daddy Scents "Big Ol' Bossy" pee in the air. That got his attention!  He bust out into the bean field heading back my way, but now he was dead down wind and walking right in my tracks where I had come in. His survival instincts finally kicked in and over ruled his hormones, after a long time standing in the field licking his lips, he went back the way he'd came. This is him trying to decide why that fat guy in the tree smells like a hot doe.  |

Best of luck to you John! They are starting to move a friend of mine down in Greene/Sullivan Counties that works for the RxR company saw 6 deer he said over 130" last night while working by themselves crossing various roads so they are definitely moving!

well i agree with yall. I'd say the Rut is DEFFINATELY on. round here @least. i went out tonight and across the field from where I hunt in a bean field, i saw a VERY LARGE BODIED and LARGE RACKED buck chasein 2 does. INTENSELY!!. I grunted @ him for bout 10 minutes, and even threw in a few snort weez's, but he would'nt stay off them does! well you guys know where i'll be for the next 2 weeks. whis me luck and good luck to yall!

Seen a 8 point and a doe tonight. Seems like the bucks are up and moving more during the daylight but I haven't seen any chasing at all yet. Also seen 9 doe's and fawns last night with not a buck around any of them.  |

Just another night at work for me and Monty will be back here again bright and early.
