This morning there was a yearling, possibly a button buck, bedded about 55 yards from me. It eventually got up and started browsing and I noticed it had a broken leg. I had planned on taking a doe if I got the chance, mainly because I'm really wanting to try these NAP Braxe broadheads Chase and me are using. But after watching this pitiful little thing, I wasn't sure I could shoot it. I was relieved when it never did come within range. My question is, what would YOU do? Some things to consider; - It's just a matter of time before a coyote catches it. Should it be put out of it's misery?
- The price of a tag, there probably wasn't $24 dollars worth of meat on the little thing.
Here's a video still, the front left leg was just hanging there. Looks like the upper leg bone had been broke, then healed in a very bad way.

hunting with ethics is one of the most important things to do. the price of a tag is worth putting an animal out of its misery to me.

shoot it. i had to do that before, but after u do be sure to just call your local DNR officer and he will write u a tag for it, so that u won't have to waste $24 on it. but yet u can still keep the deer.

I'd take it, that thing couldn't go to long, coyotes might get it

I'm all about shooting it because i don't want to see it suffer. If it was ok then i would let it go.

I only hunt big bucks but I would definitely shoot if I had the opportunity for a clean quick kill.

I make it a point to not shoot button bucks. That's part of why I always have a pair of 10x42 binos hanging off my chest. With a major injury like that deer (most likely the result of being hit by a vehicle) I would most definitely shoot it. He would be easy bait for a pack of coyotes pack hunting. I am fortunate enough to have a lifetime license so tags are a mute point to me. I got that lifetime license as a graduation gift when I turned 18. I just turned 31 in August. The best money ever spent.

You guys make me sick with your lifetime licenses!! I don't know how many years I said I was going to get one with my tax return and just never did. The time will come soon when I'll be paying more for one years worth of license than I could have bought the lifetime for.

No kidding! My comprehensive hunting and fishing license cost $708.75 when I got mine in 1997. It has more than paid for itself by now. The true gift that keeps on giving. I am fortunate I know. I am thankful every day.
