Fished Bass Lake with a friend from work Monday afternoon/evening. We got on the water around 1600 and fished until dark. I was throwing jerkbaits and spinnerbaits with a bit of topwater stuff. My friend was throwing actual musky plugs and bass lures when he got tired of the heavy stuff. He had seven follows, the last came on a spinnerbait and the fish did everything but take the lure. I had two follows, one on a spinnerbait and one on a jerkbait, one fish bit a spinnerbait with no hookup and I caught one on a spinnerbait...
He caught two short, but chunky bass. I was bummed he couldn’t get a musky to bite, but he said he was happy with the number of fish he saw. He’s caught musky on trips to Minnesota, but he was happy to know there’s a decent musky fishery close to home.
We were trolling to a different spot and I had my spinnerbait in the water about two or three feet down. The fish appeared out of no where and inhaled the lure. Kinda took me by surprise. Still a good fight even though it was close to the boat.
