I haven’t hunted in a few years now. Not gonna lie though. When I saw him on the trail cam, I started getting the itch. 😂

The video will be live here at 8! I'm trying out the "premier" feature. I think you can live chat while it is first played if anybody wants to get on and hang in the chat. Never used this before so not sure exactly how it works.

I've hunted there a few times and it is crazy with all that noise! You have to be be constantly scanning because you're not going to hear them come in. If you think about it, you can be in a stand in the middle of nowhere and still here traffic or farm equipment, etc from miles around so you can only imagine what it's like having a freeway a few hundred feet away! It is a very target rich environment though and I will most likely be there in the morning.

When I saw him on the trail cam, I started getting the itch. 😂 Just curious...why did you give up deer hunting?[/ The main reason is lack of places to hunt. Growing up we had hundreds of acres of Peabody land we could hunt. Now that’s all private or state ground that gets hit hard. I have just under 8 acres, and only about 1/3 of that is wooded. And, as you can tell from the video, it’s not exactly a serene, peaceful place to sit.

It is interesting that you say that. In Indiana, and nationwide, there has been a steady decline in hunters and license sales. There has also been a decline in hunter recruitment (introducing new hunters to the sport). The state acts like they are not sure what the main cause is. Although, there are various reasons for it the number one issue I keep seeing is lack of places to hunt. Every former deer hunter that I know says the same thing..."I lost the ground that I had hunted on for years and can't seem to find new ground." It has gotten very difficult for to acquire new hunting ground. It used to be if you couldn't pick up ground to hunt it was because someone was already hunting it. Now, it's usually because the owners don't want anybody hunting it. Back in the 90's pretty much every woods near me had a hunter in it. Now, it seems like about only 20% of the woods in my area are being hunted and it isn't because people don't want to hunt there. It's because the owners won't let people hunt. I wish the DNR would start providing some kind of incentive for anybody who allows their land to be hunted. I know there is a lot of public land in Indiana but once you've hunted private it is very hard to hunt public. Actually, in the northern part of the state where I live there isn't much public ground. The closest is 45 minutes away from me. The only people who can afford to hunt anymore are the wealthy people who buy up ground or pay big money to landowners for permission. It is sad that it has become a rich mans sport.

Yep. I agree completely. One of my buddies who has a lot of connections with land owners is losing one of his prime spots next year. The land owner is giving him first option to lease it for $1000/person. That’s an expensive one buck tag.

I don't care what your net worth is, that is a ridiculous amount of money to pay to harvest a deer. Unfortunately, a $1000 lease is pretty normal. I love deer hunting but I cannot see forking over a gob of money to do it. The main reason I love it is because of the fact that it can be a pretty inexpensive hobby, really. Yes, your weapon costs you some cash but a weapon can last a lifetime and you don't need anything fancy to harvest a deer. I hope things change soon for the future of the sport.

Just noticed that the video has surpassed 10,000 views, congrats! It's kind of crazy that this one hit 10K and your archery buck only has around 500.
