Just got back from Academy Sports. Picked up a Pelican Catch 100, it was $699 and you got a $100 gift card with purchase. Got a cheap Magellan paddle to go with it. This is a simple little yak but I like the seat and the width(even though it looks like a barge.) This will be my pond and pit hopper this spring then it might be going south to be my guest kayak. I'll do a video review as soon as it warms up again. www.academy.com/shop/pdp/pelican-premium-the-catch-100-10-ft-sit-on-top-fishing-kayak

I've got the yellow one, Troy. You should like it. It is very easy for one person to load and handle out of the water. Enjoy!!

They had 3 in Terre Haute and only in gray. That's another reason I liked this one was the size. Figured it would be a good "throw n go" kayak for quick trips. Seems I never have time to fish around here anymore but I'm gonna try to change that this year...even if it means just hitting the ponds.

I like the look of it! Do you still have your other rig? Yes but it lives in Florida now.

I was thinking about getting the Pelican 130 Catch with the HyDryve pedal system but decided I didn't want to spend the $1,500. Glad I didn't because my knees could not take the pedaling the other day in our pedal boat. I could only last maybe a minute and my knees would just be throbbing. I think running up and down the stairs here at work the past 5 years has done them in...that plus working on concrete floors for 35 years.

Could have been caused by too much praying, too.

Ahhh...I see what you mean now Troy. I've thought about getting a smaller yak for the local, smaller lakes. My Pescador is not light and pond hopping can turn into a workout. If I plan on fishing one lake an outing then it's fine. Which for the most part that's what I do anyway.

Forgot they were running a similar deal last year when I got mine. They had it marked down to $1500 from $1800 and there was a store wide offer that anything bought with a gift card you would get 10% back on. So I purchased 2 cards to cover the yak (limit a $1k a card) and then used them to buy the yak. At the end of May the promo ended and I had $150 back on the cards. So what should have been an $1800 yak cost me $1350. I ended up using those cards to aid in purchasing a small gun safe back in November. Now that I think about it I mentioned all that in my thread when I bought mine...which happened to be a year ago today because I seen the "memory" on FB this morning.

Took it out for the first time yesterday. Couldn't get any slime on it but I do like it.

I have the same paddle. It was ok until I raised the back of the seat up. The seat is reclined to accommodate the pedaling feature but sucks when you're trying to fish. So I stuck some pvc under the seat to help me sit more upright but by doing this the paddle is too short now.

Was in Rural King the other day and they have the Pelican Catch 100 for $599. If you could catch it when they have one those 12% off deals going on it would be a heck of a deal.

The newest new yak! I caught so many fish while filming this review video that I'm going to upload a separate video of just the fishing. They were on FIRE!
