I put 5 small bucks in the cross hairs but let them all walk holding out for a better one only to never see a better one. I never got a good shot at a doe this year which is uncommon. Still have 3 tags. Season isn't over yet though.

I also have passed on 4 smallish bucks. I actually shot at and missed one of them clean. He ran from 80 yards away to within about 20 yards of me and just stood there looking around trying to figure it all out. When he got that close and I could see he wasn't hit, and also see that he was a lot smaller than I thought, I never took the second shot. I did have a really nice 8 pointer that was chasing a doe all the way around my stand within 15 yards, but I couldn't get him to stop in a place to get an ethical bow shot. Like you say, the season isn't over yet!!

Pulled the cam I had setup by the chestnut trees today. Nothing big but I did count 11 different bucks. Looks like this would be a good early season and rut spot. Hardly anything has passed the camera since Christmas. |

The last time I checked my cams was Jan. 6 and I found a small 4 point shed while out and about. Looked for the other side but didn't find anything. Planning on checking the cams again this weekend and looking on the ground some more.

I’d say there’s a couple of shooters in there. Yeah, I'm looking at them on my work computer and a couple are nicer than I thought. They didn't look so big on my crappy little laptop.  |
