Manasota Key Florida 6-13&14

So we headed over towards Venice just winging it to look for sharks teeth and ended up at a resort called Wanna B's that had a last minute cancellation. It was on an island called Manasota Key and we had a gulf front room and just behind the condo was the inshore waters with a couple lighted docks. Colt and me did a lot of surf fishing with artificials, sand fleas, and live shrimp, but only managed a few small jacks and ladyfish. We went to the docks the first night but all the good spots were taken and we didn't have any live bait and we struck out. Went back last night a little earlier with some live shrimp and I managed a couple small snook and Colt landed a couple ladyfish. Saw some HUGE snook under the lights and Colt hooked up with one momentarily before it wrapped him around a piling.
This morning we were gonna surf fish and look for sharks teeth before heading home but as I was handing Colt his rod on the beach the circle hook buried into his finger. I tried getting it out but he was just in to much pain. Spent all morning and early afternoon at the docs getting it out and then just decided to head back to Astor.
