Google maps has been back by our place. I know it was at the end of March because dad’s boat is out of the water and in the driveway across the street. They didn’t go on the backside of the property though. Was wanting to see what the bass looked like from the road. 😂

Just come across this guy, Adam Long, and instantly thought of you guys! He’s doing a mural in Bloomfield later this month and has invited people to come interact, participate, etc…

I'm finishing up my last night shift before vacation. The plan had been for me to go home and sleep and then get up and drive down to Florida tonight with the pontoon. With work being done on the house this week and all the stress that goes with that I asked Gail if she wanted to just wait until January to go south. She said she really needs to getaway and I feel the same but she said she has a bad feeling about driving and asked if we could fly this time. That was fine with me because I'm having the same uneasy feeling about the drive. Usually I look forward to heading south no matter how we get there but I've been dreading the drive this time for some reason. Maybe because I drove down last time? Not sure but we are going to fly down for a week and then take the boat down later this winter.

Welp, we come down here to get away from all the issues of the move/remodel and now all we’ve dealt with since landing is more issues. Had trouble with Alamo car rental and then get to the house and the ac is out. Just paid $350 for a new compressor fan motor and now awaiting a plumber for an estimate on a new hot water heater. Good times. One of these days I’m going to take a real vacation. 🙄

We have decided to take off for a day or 2. Heading to the Everglades. I’m going to try and check off an item on my bucket list. Hoping to catch an Oscar, a Mayan cichlid, and a peacock bass. A jaguar cichlid would be a bonus catch. Hopefully avoid the pythons and gators. 😂

We’re down by the Everglades but no fish caught yet. We spent a little too much time at the DeLand flea market this morning and then ran into traffic on the way. Got here about an hour before dark. We forgot the worms so I found a bait shop and it was right by a canal that we fished for a while. Gail had a couple bites but that was it. This was me yesterday getting everything ready. 😂

Well, Gail and me had a trip booked to fly down on the 11th but too many things are going on right now. One of them being her standard poodle she lets run loose came home with a broken front leg the other day. No idea what happened but she's in a splint and staying in the cabin with us. The splint will have to be changed periodically by the vet and she also needs carried in and out of the cabin to do her business. She only weighs 51 ponds but still, it's hard to ask someone to deal with that while we go on vacation. Plus deal with 2 batches of chicks and all the other critters we have. I think I'm going to keep my time off and make our final move into the modular. I'd feel better going on vacay after all that is done anyhow. I'm sure we would have been moved by now but Gail has had some health issues and I injured my shoulder at work on January 30th. Just now getting to where I can raise my arm again. That has put quite the damper on getting things done around the homestead.
Oh, p.s. If you get hurt at work and it's not life threatening, just use your own insurance. Worker's comp is a JOKE! Hence me just now being able to move my arm 3 months later.

Wow. life always seems to have something for us to deal with. Glad your shoulder is getting better. Hope Gail's pup mends quickly and is back to normal soon, as well. My brother and I have a fishing trip planned for June 1st to the UP of Michigan. As I have aged the certainty of planned ahead vacations no longer are always so certain. The wife and I had a planned trip to Germany last October. The week before we were to leave she got a very bad infection in her foot that her Dr recommended she keep off of and keep elevated. Ha, can't go on a walking trip and 8 hr plane rides with that going on. We rescheduled for late next month.

Hoping to be back in Florida in a couple weeks. Thinking about going over to the west coast again for some scallops but not sure. Might just relax in Astor. I'm definitely in need of a vacation. The pontoon is still hanging in the neighbor's lift as his big boat is out of commission for the time being.

Pretty hot down there, but it is paradise after all. Hope things go well for you the next few weeks to let you get away.

Made it down here around 10:30 last night. Delivered a puppy to Chattanooga and that went flawless. I-75 was a slow moving parking lot though from 60 miles north of Atlanta to south of Macon. Man I hate that interstate! So the light bills have been higher than they've ever been down here the past few months and I was worried something was wrong. It was...sort of. I walked in the door and the cold air hit me in the face. It was 72 in there! Gail had forgot to turn the AC dial up when they left here in early April. They had also left a small fridge running on the back porch that is iced up so much I couldn't hardly get the door open. This explains the $170 bills I'm getting instead of the usual $60 in the summer when no one is there and the AC is set on 80.
