Little frustrated right now to be honest. Work all the time to be able to come down here and then I get here and all I do is work. Feeling lucky at the same time because a lot of folks got hit way worse than us. Shoveled mud off the driveway all morning that had been left by the flooding. Then the afternoon was spent under the trailer fixing the ductwork. Probably have 2 or 3 more days of cleanup and then hopefully some fishing!

Picked up Gail and her 2 puppies at the airport last night and then met their new owners at the Sanford Lowes. I ran in and did a little shopping and ended up buying 3 banana trees that were on clearance. We had high speed internet installed today so I think I’ll buy some security cameras to keep an eye on the trees. 🍌😂  |

Sitting on the dock right now where mom and dad spend the winters. Not much biting but Gail caught a little bluegill and I caught a channel cat that’s going in my belly. 😂 So on the drive down I had a tooth start hurting and it’s so bad now that I found an emergency dentist today and the plan is to do an extraction on Thursday. Hopefully it works out because I am in misery right now. 🙁  |

Dang, you seem to have your share of problems while you're down there. One of these days it's all going to be fun and games in fish camp for you guys. Can't wait to start seeing the pictures from your mom and dad's stay in Astor for the winter. Big crappie pics get my fishing juices flowing. My brother and I are thinking of scheduling a trip to Cumberland or Dale Hollow lake in March to chase some of the big crappie there.

Welp, this is stacking up to be a vacation to forget! 😣 The plan today was to hit our favorite flea market, the Deland Flea and Farmers Market held every Wednesday at the Volusia County Fairgrounds and then come back and fish the rest of the day. Unfortunately Gail woke up sick as a dog. She hasn’t left the bed or couch all day. She told me to go ahead and go but I decided to stay here and clean off all the roofs and gutters. That was an all day ordeal but I got it done plus got all the debris picked up and burned. Had to finish the last couple hours with a headlamp on. I hadn’t ate all day and Gail didn’t feel like eating so I just got done cleaning and cooking my catfish from last night. Did it blackened on the grill using Chef Paul’s Blackened Redfish Magic and put it on a bed of 90 second fried rice and it was delicious! There is nothing at all wrong with the catfish out of the St John’s here. Tomorrow is tooth extraction day so I’m sure it will be another good one! 😂 Just hope Gail gets to feeling better.  |

A good friend of mine owned a house in Myrtle Beach but sold it about 5 years ago. He sold it because he never could enjoy it because every time he went there for "vacation" he was working on it. Ironically, he sold it to another person who bought it as a vacation home and they let him use it for 1 week each year. He's finally getting to enjoy it...LOL. My wife has been itching to get a Florida vacation home but that is the number 1 reason why I don't want to do it...yet. My downfall is I am a construction guy by trade and am well versed in all the other trades (electrical, mechanical and plumbing). I hate paying someone else to fix something I can easily fix. Hopefully you will soon get to a point where most of your trips down there are enjoyable, fun trips. BTW, that meal looks delicious.

I think everything will be fine once I get to retirement and have more than a week at a time down here. I would love to have a month to do all the things I’d like to get done.

Welp, went to the emergency dentist who only does extractions and denture fixes. Most thorough exam I had ever had and he ended up talking me out of pulling it. No infection and he thinks I’ve had some sort of trauma to it. That is possible since I have a bad habit of chomping ice and was doing that a lot on the drive down. Prescribed pain meds and a rinse. Worst part was waiting over 2hours for Walgreens to fill them. Ended up at Lowes and found a security camera on sale for $39 that I’ll be doing a video on. Gail is still sick so I picked up a covid test and yep, she’s got it. 😔
She has it worse than when we were down here in January with it.
The neighbors where we’ve been keeping the pontoon boat is going to start renting their place out so I need to get it moved. Think I’ll see if a crappie will bite. The river is really moving swift though with all this water so not sure how that will work out. Sorry for the long winded shit show updates! 😂

Hope that works out for you. Wife and I left Indiana on 1/9 for Sarasota to watch my sisters' dog while they were on a trip. Now they have scheduled a cruise in 2 weeks coming early Feb and said they are going back to Indiana for grandkids birthday parties late February. Said we should just plan on staying till the end of February if we wanted. How is there even a decision to be made? Lol
