Had a week off but only got out a few different times. Hunted Chase's stand one evening and didn't see anything until right at dark I saw 3 does. Hunted Gail's place the next morning and had a doe with 2 fawns go under the stand followed by a basket rack. Gail's daughter mentioned she'd like to go deer hunting, but wasn't thrilled about shooting a shotgun or rifle so I got out the crossbow and she was hitting pretty darn good with it. We spent hours in the stand yesterday and didn't see a darn thing. She was a trooper though and hopefully I can put her on one before the season ends.

Well I'm not live from the stand as firearm season ended about 3 hours ago. Over my 26 days off I didn't get out as much as I would've liked. I got sick twice and the second time really put me down. I actually left work early on my last day before vacation because of getting sick. Spent the next couple days at home. I did manage to take a small doe on the Sunday of the firearm opener and that was it. Monday I knew something wasn't right and I spent the day laying around my sisters house just watching tv and sleeping. I did make time to check my doe in and went ahead and butchered her myself. On Tuesday is when the second sickness set in and I was down until about Sunday. Now it's back to the grind tomorrow. Just have to wait on Dec 22 as that will be my last day before Christmas shutdown and I'll get 10 days off.

Congrats on the doe, Lee. Not much I hate worse than being sick on vacation...I'd much rather be sick at work!

I went ahead and had blood work done too while I was off. I have high cholesterol. Apparently my HDL (good cholesterol) which is supposed to have a higher number was really low. Now I get to see a thyroid Dr on Wednesday because of it. I also dropped 15 pounds from being sick too. I have gained some back though.

Do what the doctor tells you or else you'll end up having a heart attack just like I did! They will likely put you on cholesterol medication and it should pretty much correct your cholesterol issue. My good cholesterol was really low and my bad cholesterol was really high. Unfortunately it wasn't discovered until I was in the ER getting a stent put in. After just being on the meds a short time my cholesterol was back to normal levels. Without the meds, though, it will almost immediately get out of whack. My body produces way too much cholesterol. My doctor even told me that a huge change in diet won't even correct it. The only way to manage it is with meds...which I hate but it is what it is. Take care of yourself Lee!

My bad cholesterol was never that high...I mean it was above the desired number but not by a lot (215ish). My triglycerides were through the roof the first time I had blood work done a couple years ago. It has since dropped but not enough. I think the desired number is 149 or below and mine was 330. Believe it to be in the 250 range now.
