Thought I'd start a thread here in the trading post and update it every time we're gonna be setup somewhere. GKC is a business venture with my girlfriend Gail and myself. We enjoy snacking on kettle corn when we're walking around festivals and such and we always noticed how busy the kettle corn vendors were. We talked about maybe doing it ourselves someday and the next thing you know we're traveling to Florida to buy an entire setup! One thing I've learned about Gail is that you don't make small talk about doing something unless you're dead serious! If she gets an idea she makes it happen. It took me a while to get the timing down on the popping, but I'm finally at the point where I'm proud of the final product. Last weekend was our first time setting up in public and it went pretty good. We got lots of positive feedback and quite a few repeat customers over the course of the weekend. I think it helps that we only use top quality products; like "magic mushroom" popcorn and 100% corn oil. Last week we were setup at the junction of Indiana S.R. 46 and 59. The menu consisted of kettle corn, carmel corn, cotton candy, homemade fudge, lemonade, and other drinks. Thank you to everyone that stopped by! We have tentative plans to setup in the same spot for the Covered Bridge Festival, I'll update this thread when I find out for sure. We also plan to add pork rinds to the menu for that event.

Sounds like you're having fun with it. I'm sure the extra coin in your pocket helps at the end of the day too. So what's the BB&B member discount?? haha JK

I would suggest pork cracklins over pork rinds but I love either one!

We're set up at the junction of 46 and 59 again if anyone is passing thru! I've been working all weekend, but Gail was a quick learner on the kettle. She said the pork rinds have been a big seller. I'll be out there with her on Monday. I would suggest pork cracklins over pork rinds but I love either one! We plan on doing those too, but wanted to try the pork rinds first just to see how they went. They are a pain in the butt compared to the popcorn. I can see why the lady we bought the business off of never messed with them, but you gotta give the people what they want!

Gail did great today and actually sold out at the end of the evening. Even got a visit from the jolly ol' elf himself! Due to the weather, she won't be setting up on Sunday.

Gail will be popping next weekend in Martinsville, IN at Morgan Square(next to Dollar General.) Stop by and get Mom a treat! On June 3rd and 4th we'll be set up at the Vigo County fairgrounds for the 2017 Terre Haute Craft and Flea Market. It's free admission, free parking, and over 100 vendors. We also have a new product we're calling the "Indy Mix." It's kettle corn, cheddar corn, and carmel corn mixed. I first tried it at the Daytona Flea Market and was hooked!

Garrett's Popcorn out of Chicago started making and selling this particular mix over a hundred years ago and they have been doing it ever since. However, Indy style works too since it is a common find around the Indianapolis area. Good stuff and Good Luck!
