From now until ice is great!! Spring can be a hard bite and then it picks up again in May/June. All catch and release..I have never wanted to keep one..I may get a replica mount of the 50 if the wife will let me hang it on the wall.. RIGHT!! I have a boat we can use down on Bass..I will bring some heavy tackle down and we can give it a try. Tite Lines R

I go through great lengths to ensure that all these fish get released. When this 41" musky was released she wanted to stay near the surface and on a busy weekend would have been a good target for a Jet Ski. I jumped in the water and swam with her for about 15 minutes until she wanted to dive on her own. You should have seen the looks on the other boaters to see a 6'2" 230lb guy strip down to his shorts and go swim with a toothy Indiana Musky.. Release Em All.. Whiteman

i wish i could catch a fish like those. never caught a musky? what lures or bait do you use for them? I use a lot of 8" to 10" crankbaits and 8-9" glide baits. In the fall we use large suckers, about 12-15" long ,with a quick strike rig. That is a load of fun..Musky fishing requires a lot of patience...you will go trips with only a few follows to get you buy...I caught the 50.25" trolling with a rig I made up. I also use large in-line spinners or bucktails and topwater baits. For tackle I like a 7.5" St. Croix rod Heavy action and Shimano Calcutta 300 spooled with 80lb tuff line and 100lb floro leader.
