This seasons going rough.. Opening morning got snuck in on one, He was down over a little hill. A jake came running by not 5 minutes after I started calling, but I was waiting for Tom. After about an hour he finally peaked over the hill, and slowly came in. Of course he had circled a little to my right where I cant shoot. At about 45 yards he got behind a tree so I tried to turn a little, two clucks and he was going the other way. Threw a hail mary shot at him, no dice. Friday night was the next time I got on one. We were fishing and that bird was going nuts. By the time I got back all geared up, he shut up. So I snuck in between where they normally roost and where I had heard. Did some soft calling, and a half hour later he was coming down the hill 100 yards away. Then he disappeared? Not a minute later a coyote came trotting by.. Stupid dogs. He's lucky he didn't come closer, as we were in with the cattle. Saturday morning I couldn't get on anything, but at work while discing I pulled into the field Id been in not two hours earlier and there were three strutters. Hopefully I find a dumber one soon! or I get smarter.

I would have shot the jake lol I got pretty lucky this year. Seems like turkey hunting can either be very easy or extremely difficult. usually extremely difficult lol Hang in there
