Hey Everybody. Was wondering if anybody had any early spring catfishing tips. I'm gonna be fishing a catfish tournament on April 11th and any tips or tricks would be great. Gonna be fishing from the bank and plan on using chicken livers, nightcrawlers, and maybe some processed bait. Any help anyone can offer would be great.

Livers and crawlers should work. I'd also try some cut bait, a lot of baitfish die off in the winter and when the ice is off and the water starts to warm the channel cats will be out scavenging for an easy meal. Shad would be best, or bluegill(if legal in your state). Good luck this weekend and let us know how it went!

Thanks for the tips Troy. Took livers and crawlers. Unfortunately, the weather was not good for fishing on tournament day. It was sunny and 45 but a cold north wind killed the bite and made it feel like 30. Thats nothing new for April up here in Northeast Ohio though! Thanks again for the tips. Might have better luck at one of the summer tournaments using your tips.
