Anybody checked out the new "reality" show Porter Ridge? Saw one episode and assumed it was in the backwoods of Kentucky or West Virginia. Come to find out it's a half hour down the road in Freedom, IN.

I remember Goose posting about that on another site. What channel is it on?

Holy moley! That is one of the worst previews for a show that I have ever seen B-|I'm embarrassed for Discovery channel. WTH was that? It reminded me of the Ed Bassmaster pranks...only Ed Bassmaster is way funnier than this garbage

It is closer to Whitehall than it is Freedom. Dog Killer Ridge is, just barely, in Greene County. It is the second house south of the Owen/Greene County line.
I enjoy the show. I think some folks had the wrong expectations seeing that the same production company does Duck Dynasty.

I personally think this show degrades Hoosiers. I watched one episode and won't watch another. I think Discovery Channel lost all ideas and this was the only thing on the table. Don't get me wrong, some of it is funny, but tells the nation that Indiana is full of moronic hillbilly burnouts. Gives the country folks a bad name

Apparently you haven't spent much time in Owen County or eastern Greene County.

Besides, I think most of the nation already thought of Indiana that way.

Besides, I think most of the nation already thought of Indiana that way. I haven't saw the show yet, but I'm pretty sure they could make one here in J-tucky that a lot of folks would find degrading. I'll pass judgement until I catch a couple episodes. I remember seeing a preview for a show called "Swamp'd!" on Animal Planet that looked pretty stupid and then I happened to catch a marathon one Sunday and got hooked on it.

I hunted that Freedom/New Hope/Arney area for 10 years and still turkey hunt down there by Fish Creek, that area is full of hillbilly burnouts and poachers/thieves/druggies. More deer hunting pressure than I've seen anywhere other than public.

I like that area. When I was growing up we'd go to a horse show north of Solsberry about once a month spring through fall. Usually spent the night with the camper right along the creek. Dad cooked a lot of beans over the fire there and I believe I got my first smooch up on the hill there. The boys who partook would usually make a run up to Yoho Grocery for chaw on Saturdays. We had some hell-a-ish football games in the arena on Saturday nights. I looked at that spot on google earth and it looks like a lake sits where the horse show arena once was. We knew a lot of folks from that area back then and they were all good folks, but I can see why that area would be a favorite of those who don't want others to know what they're up to. Was also glad to hear that the Yoho store has opened back up.
