...on New Years Eve night I was doing some donuts with the 4wheeler( ), anyhow, I did some in the turnip patches to uncover the greens for the deer. Next day I walked out there and the deer had hit it HARD! They pretty much ate every thing I had uncovered. Looked like a big herd of deer had been through. What really caught my eye was a set of lone tracks that were BIG. I lost track of them until I got back to the house and there they were under the persimmon tree right behind the house! I couldn't imagine a big buck coming that close to the house, but you never know. Yesterday morning I look out back @ 4:15am before turning any lights on, but don't see anything.
Last night I stopped at Gander Mtn after work, so I was a little late getting home. I walk in and my wife, Kim, is shook up....she says she had just opened the sliding glass door to smoke and there was a MONSTER buck standing there looking at her from the persimmon tree! She said they just looked at each other for a minute and then it turned and ran off. She tried counting the points, but said they were sticking out every where...and when it turned to leave it looked even bigger from the side. I tell ya...she was still shaking all over...guess it was her first experience with "buck fever!"
I asked if she could pick him out of a line-up and showed her this pic...
She said "Oh no, the one I saw was a lot bigger." This is the biggest buck we have on trailcam from last year and she says this one is much bigger?? Now I just need to figure out where to set tonight to cut him off.
