Dad and me got down to the forest around 8 this morning after stopping in Linton for minnows. We rode around in the fog for around an hour or so and the bite started off kinda slow, but once the sun come up they started biting and were still biting when we left around 12:30. In fact, Dad and me doubled on 2 of the biggest 'gills of the day right before we left. We were finding them near shore where there was deeper water nearby. Dad had the hot hand on the crappie, but I was able to catch a couple of those big forest redear. I couldn't catch anything on minnows for some reason? I caught 2 crappie and both those were on worm. Dad was catching crappie and gills both on minnows. We ended up keeping 29. We're gonna go give it another shot tomorrow morning. Water temp was 58 warming to 62.

It's amazing how much the redear look like the crappie in that picture. Looks like a good day to me

Where did you buy your minnows? At the house that has a sign saying "Live Bait" just off 54 south of Dairy Queen and the skating rink. He has minnows, crawlers, beemoth, and redworms. Chase and me have stopped there before. Sign says he's open from 6am-10pm.

From my experience Dirty Harry's has the best minnows in the area.

Dad bought 3 dozen yesterday and there was probably still that many left today and they were still good and lively. I thought about Dirty Harry's but I'm not sure of his hours and we didn't want to get clear down there and then have to go back into Linton.

It seems that most places give you extra minnows, except for Trotter who counts them out two at a time. That is one thing about Dirty Harry's, I don't think he has his hours posted and the phone number listed for them is disconnected.
