There's only 5 people that have joined. It would be nice to get at least 8 teams.

Yes it would! Some of you guys who are football fans but have never tried fantasy football, give it a shot. It's very simple and really fun. It also enhances your NFL watching experience. BTW, the draft date has been rescheduled AGAIN! There were a couple of us who couldn't make it, plus Yahoo added more draft time slots since the last time I rescheduled and now a date/time that previously wasn't available is now available The new (and final) draft date is Tuesday, August 30 @ 9pm. Kepeesh?!?

if oyu love football and know who some of the good players on every team are, then you will have no problem playing fantasy football michiganhunter. We have a pretty friendly league so everyone would help answer any questions you have. BTW I finally got in the league. I had to use Google Chrome tho. I couldn't get into Yahoo with Internet Explorer for some reason.

Here's some info that strippitman posted last year about how it works.
I am sure many of you are wondering how fantasy football (referred to as ff in rest of post) works. Hopefully, I can clarify ff to you rookies out there to make this as enjoyable for you as it is for me.
In FF you are basically the manager/owner of a team that you draft. A drafted player can only be on one team (example, 2 people can't own Drew Brees at the same time). Each week your starting players receive points for certain statistical categories. I'll cover this a little later. Each week you also face one other person in the league. Your goal, obviously, is to outscore your opponent for the week. Your score only matters against the person you are facing for the week. How do you score?
Well, the scoring is actually quite simple. Here is a brief rundown of scoring: every 25 yds passing = 1 pt every thrown td = 4 pts every thrown int = -2 pts every lost fumble = -2 pts every rushing/receiving/return td = 6 pts every 10 rushing/receiving yds = 1 pt every PAT made = 1 pt field goals are scored based on distance (max. 3-5 pts for made field goal) You also have a defensive team that you start each week that scores points for sacks, blocked passes, fumble recoveries, points allowed, int's, defensive TD's, etc.
Your starting roster consists of a QB, 3 wide receivers, 2 running backs, 1 tight end, a "flex" position which can be either a running back or wide receiver, 1 kicker and 1 defensive team. You will also have 6 players on the bench. Once a roster persons actual game starts you will not be able to move him from a starter to the bench or vice versa. In other words, lets say you have C. Palmer starting and P. Manning on the bench. Palmer plays at 1:00 and Manning plays at 4:00. Palmers game has already started but you are thinking you want to start Manning instead. You cannot make this change, nor will Yahoo allow you to. So, how do you get players on your roster? Draft them!
The draft is the most fun and crucial part of fantasy football. Here's how it works: On the night of the draft you will need to login to the league homepage on yahoo. It will prompt you to enter the draft. If you can't make the draft yahoo will pick for you and you can also go through and rank the players ahead of time and yahoo will draft based on your rankings. If you can't make it, don't worry, yahoo does a fantastic job of drafting. The draft is a snake draft, which means you draft 1-8 first rd, 8-1 second rd, 1-8 third rd, and so on until all roster spots are complete. The draft order will be randomly decided by yahoo on draft day. The one thing to be careful of is make sure to watch your bye weeks. You don't want 2 QB's with the same bye week. You really don't want any starters in the same field position sharing the same bye week. There is also another way to get players once the season has begun.
During the season you will suffer injuries and some guys won't be performing the way you thought at draft time. You can release these players and pick up new players from the free agent list (aka waiver wire). Honestly, picking hot players during the season from the free agent list is one of the keys to having a successful ff team.
If any of you have any questions or have more to add please keep this going. Hopefully this will trigger newbies to join the ff revolution! Remember, I am here to help you. Once you play, you will be hooked forever!
