Hey fatboy dan!!!!! i usea mossberg 935 12 gauge with im pretty sure 6 shot im not quite sure tho since i will have to pattern my gun. I also use an HS strut lil duece slate with primos mouth calls. I have a gobble hs strut call crow call and even coyote howler for targetting those quiet gobblers. I have a few decoys. i use the feather flex $9.99 ones from gander mtn and make strutting jakes to put out. ill try to load a pic of one that i made by a hen. You really dont need a high dollar decoy because by the time the big boy is close enough to notice anything he should be dead. Im only 13 but have 2 should be 3 gobblers down since i shot one on the youth hunt last yeer but he jumped up and was gone. If i were you i would go to gander mtn to get outfitted and strt practicing those mouth calls as well as the slate which should not be hard at all. Also you can buy a cheep blind just to start you off for this year at dicks or walmart.
Good luck out there ill be expecting pics fatboy

o nice but if i were you i would try to get a few more befor you tride a bow. I was going to try a bow but it just is to hard. If you do take a bow then you should take a gun along as well just incase.

Its not that i can't get one in for a bow shot, i hunt out of a treestand so them seeing me really isn't the problem, for me its just calling them, i need more practice

I might end up just taking a gun, i usually never make my final decision on whether i will take a bow/gun till a few days before.

I have never heard of hunting a turkey from a treestand. doesn't seem like that would work very well at all for shot placement. or for them hearing your calls.

it works pretty well, you can get away with moving alot more than if you were on the ground, i know it seems weird look it up on youtube, theres a couple videos showing it
