BTW CHANGE THE LINE!! The line on those reels has a TON of coil to it. If you dont change it, you'll probbably be cussin it. Dang Tony! I see what you mean. That's not even ice fishing line, feels like at least 10lb test. I don't see why HT would waste the time to put that junk on those reels.  I've got enough Northland Bionic Ice 2# test for one more reel, I'll have to get some more. |

yea IDK WHAT they were thinking. I striped mine and put new line on it. I used...hang on, ... sorry had to get the spool. Shakespeare OMNIFLEX MONO. It is 8 lb test, but it is only .008 diameter. also it is a sky blue colour and seems to dissapear very quickly. I got it in a 700 yd roll, but heck I dont know if they even make this style anymore. I guess eventually I am gonna have to break down and try some of the new stuff...

Could have saved me some time by just selling them lineless! Anyway, got all 4 new reels spooled with 3# microice line and the tip up is spooled with 50 yds of 20# braided with a 10' 12# leader. Like to try for some cats with it. Just waiting for a day off with ice. |
