Just read this report on iceshanty.com about Shakamak;
Still pretty iffy. Lot's of bad spots, and we were not able to fish where I was wanting too, but we were able to get out on kickapoo by spudding our way out and had as little as 2.5"s and as much as 4.5"s. 6"s of snow and slush on top of solid, clear ice. We caught nothing!!!!!! If you are coming down from up north,,,,give it another 3 to 4 days.

On those bigger water bodies, I would'nt have even risked checking it. for around here, Ill stick with the smaller farm ponds!

Well, please keep me updated on the southern ice. I was hoping to make it down there next weekend if at all possible. Troy, do you have any days off between the 22nd-24th? Let me know. Maybe we can hook up and fish if there is good ice down there. The 22nd we're gonna be on the Ohio River trying to catch a monster blue cat on video. I'm free the 23rd and 24th though. Someone is claiming on another site that they're fishing Wampler, so I'm gonna go check it out first hand today. I think I'll bring the Benelli in case I see any ducks. Assuming you have good ice by then, I'm gonna plan on being down there the 24th. I am installing some new flooring at my mom's house in Indianapolis on the 22nd and 23rd. Let's keep in touch regarding this.

Maybe we can head north and meet you somewhere if it's not good here.

Went back to the Kickapoo dock this afternoon. I caught one decent gill and that was the only bite. I did get to meet jrobins and his wife and got to check out his new Marcum Showdown Troller. I might just have to get one of these, may just be the ticket for someone like me who doesn't get to ice fish that much and doesn't want to break the bank. Booey and Catfishsam went with us and seemed more interested in snowball fights than fishing.

Here's a quick video of my pond, I just took it. All the tracks you see on the pond are from our dog, and alot are deer tracks. I have'nt been "ON IT' other that a few feet out, since last ice. I think i will give it the rest of the week then go drill a hole and see.

The springs are actually frozen, and believe it or not, they actually freeze thicker than you would think. Its fresh clear water so you can see right through them, thats why they look so thin. BUT, like I said, I just dont think its safe enough to be back out on yet. will post again when i know more.
