The way I'm seeing things is that the state is trying to make this a trophy state. 1st the one buck rule and now this. On one hand I would love to see more big bucks, and I have seen more big bucks the last few years. On the other hand its going to draw in a lot more out of state guys and make it even harder for us locals. Better start buying some ground. Well said.

I dont think its fair that out of state guys can hunt during regular deer season for locals who liv in indiana i wish they would make a season just 4 them maybe 5 days so we can have a lot more luck at killing a buck idk if its a spike its still a buck and extend the season for the residents if they want 2 thin out the deer season lik from when the deer season usually starts for youth til 3 27 of the nxt year that would be an awsome thing for spring breaka week of solid hunting or allow lik 10 nites of spot light hunting for lik 50 bucks i would pay for it wat does every1 think ?

Some very interesting ideas you have there. I don't think any of them will happen, but I like the way you think!

I like the changes. The point of this proposal is to kill more does and less bucks, which means if it works there will be more large bucks. By moving the firearms season out of the rut and shortening it the smaller bucks have more of chance to get through the season and grow larger

By moving the firearms season out of the rut and shortening it the smaller bucks have more of chance to get through the season and grow larger Well, I figured someone must like it, if it's made it this far. You're the first one that I've heard say(or admit) that this is about killing less bucks. All I've heard preached is that it's about killing more deer. This whole subject has me so turned off of deer hunting that I'm not sure I'll even hunt this year. This "Big Buck" obsession is wearing thin with me too. Would I like to kill a big deer? Sure. Will I lose a seconds sleep if I don't? Nope. It means more to me to have some meat in the freezer than it would a head on the wall. On second thought........maybe I will hunt this year.......and kill the first young, tender buck that walks by!

You got it exactly right troy, i would love to kill a big buck also, but its just as good to have a couple does and young bucks in the freezer. All the famous hunters on tv really overuse that whole managing bucks thing.

i agree guys. any hunting show you watch, the hunters are passing on small bucks and even letting nice bucks walk because they aren't the deer they have been scouting all summer. Its hard to get young hunters interested in hunting if you have to tell them that they can't shoot a buck because it isn't big enough. A kid would be proud of any buck no matter how small.
