Does anyone know the outcome of these proposed changes? Has this been voted on yet?

I was just told the same thing by another buddy. I actually heard it from my Father-in-law, who just came across it browsing. I do agree with you on the FB statement though. I would get rid of it, but since the house fire, the only family and wedding pics I have left are on Facebook. I will get around to re-printing them one day, but not any time soon, THAT'S ALOT OF PICS! I just about turned RED HOT when I read that article, thinking to myself, "I have FOUR BOYS!, HOW THE H3LL AM I SUPPOSED TO KEEP THEM ENTERTAINED NOW???!"

I don't know if anyone else has seen this yet or not, and I have NO IDEA if it is even true, but I feel it NEEDS to be shared here. Atleast this way, it will spread around, and any hopes of countering this can be met by the people who are against it. I think this is completely LUDACRIS and OUTRAGEOUS. The government is going TOO FAR on this one. Here is the link, nationalreport.net/federal-government-restrict-hunting-setting-minimum-age-21/ and here is a COPY of the article. Someone PLEASE tell me this isn't true. Federal Government To Restrict Hunting By Setting A Minimum Age Of 21 Posted about 1 month ago | 203 comments 193K Email Federal Government to set minimum hunting age at 21. Family hunting expeditions like the one shown will be a thing of the past. // (image source: <National Report>The United States Government has decided 2015 is the year to enact a new nationwide “minimum hunting age” of 21. Previously, each state has set its own minimum age for a hunter to hunt alone and sometimes a different age for minors to hunt while in the company of an adult. The federal regulation, set to go into effect on July 1st, 2015, will supersede all existing hunting age restrictions in all fifty U.S. states. For example, prior to this ruling Alaska had no license require for any hunters under the age of 15; meaning that a four-year old could go out and hunt game with or without adult supervision. Under the new policy, any hunters under the age of 21 will be locked out of the sport and all hunters over 21 will be required to show a national hunting license upon request from a game warden. In addition to the nationwide minimum hunting age now being 21, all hunters will have to take a federally sponsored annual “hunting safety and wildlife appreciation” course which will feature a written exam that must be passed to be eligible to receive a National Hunting License. All prospective hunters must also pass an annual physical endurance test and receive clearance from their primary care physician. Under these new regulations, individual state licenses will no longer be required and state game wardens will become federalized. Younger hunters will be able to first take the safety and appreciation course starting at the age of 19. They will then be allowed to participate in no more than three ‘mock hunts’ per year which will be organized by the federally approved groups offering the courses. The ‘mock hunt’ will not feature live ammunition or live game but will attempt to simulate an actual hunt as closely as possible. 20-year-old prospective hunters will be able to apply for a license up to sixty days before their birthday, however, the license will not be valid until their actual date of birth. “We wanted to be sure that everyone was able to successfully plan a hunting expedition with their loved ones for a twenty-first birthday party,” explained U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service spokesman Gregory Pearson. “We realize that these changes will be upsetting to some so we tried to make this transition as painless as possible.” The new federal regulations have, predictably, been met with outrage from the hunting and gun enthusiast communities. The National Rifle Association has begun a petition asking for the immediate repeal of these new restrictions. When contacted, they presented a prepared statement that said they intend to “challenge these restrictions” and demand that “states are once again given the right to dictate who is allowed to hunt and when”. The NRA also is in strict opposition to the penalties levied upon violators of the new regulations that include the seizure of firearms. A first offense of “hunting with a minor under the age of 21″ will result in immediate suspension of their National Hunting License for one year. A second offense will result in the confiscation of all hunting implements, including firearms, bows and their ammunition, and potentially a fine and jail time. A third offense will result in mandatory jail time as well as the fines and confiscations second time offenders are subject to. Likewise, anyone under 21 caught with hunting tools or weapons will have the instruments confiscated and will be subject to time in a juvenile detention center. Repeat offenders will be denied the ability to apply for a federal license. There has been quite an uproar on the internet by Americans unhappy with the changes. Herb Boucher, of Glenview Hills, Kentucky posted the following on a Facebook discussion about the new restrictions, “I took my boy out on his first hunt when he was just five. He’s fifteen now and I will not stop hunting with him no matter what that Obama idiot has to say. That is my time with my boy and they can’t stop me, I’d like to see them try.” “The thing to remember is that hunting is a privilege, not a right,” concluded spokesman Pearson. “We hope that these new restrictions will teach all Americans the value of wildlife and how to safely conduct themselves on a hunt. Far too often, the television shows children grow up watching glamorize the wrong aspects of hunting wild game and we intend to teach them the proper mindset to be in while out in the forest.” - See more at: nationalreport.net/federal-government-restrict-hunting-setting-minimum-age-21/#sthash.gVcFiLjr.dpuf

That sounds like a good plan. We're not able to hit up Royal Flush tomorrow. The guy running it has a meeting, and no hunts are available. I was able to get us into the Prairie Grove Hunting Preserve tomorrow though. Price is good, so far the service has been good. Jim was able to get us set up with some dogs, and with four of us going, it seems as though it will be a great time (minus the cold ). PLUS it's a lot closer to home. only about 4 miles from the shop too. sounds like I may have something to do on lunch...

I was wondering who was gonna be the first to "BREAK THE ICE" on this subject. I am still unsure if we will even get good ice this year. Farmers Almanac says it will be colder than last year, BUT at the same time, Meterologists are saying ti will be warmer.

^^ I have to Disagree ^^ I don't think it's going to be AS BAD as everyone is thinking. Sure there will be a few cases, but I think if the penalties and punishments for BLATANT-NEGLECT are strict enough, then those first few cases will be examples enough for people to wise up.

And before someone says it, NO, I am not the guy carrying the 50 out on opening day. Contrary to popular belief.

I am on the fence as well. I would love to use "SOME" of the high caliber rifles for deer here, but I agree with the statements about some of our local yahoos using them. I myself, (as well as most of you here likely have to some extent), have had Gun safety training, completed Hunters Education and Safety courses, and as an Armed Forces Veteran I have had the honor of receiving a fair amount of training in Weapons handling and functionality. Now, with that said, I am by no means the Best shot, or most professional hunter in the woods, but I try. A lot of guys out there can't kill a deer at 20-40 yards with a shotgun as it is. They either wound the animal and never find them, or they completely miss and who knows where the shot lands. Then there's always that guy who will read this rule and say, "Huh, Minimum bullet size of .243, and NO MAX CASE LENGHT? shoot, I'M GONNA TAKE MY 50 BMG OUT ON OPENING DAY!!!" Bottom line, will I vote for it? Yes, will everyone? No. But that's why there is a public opinion allowed and requested for a topic like this.

I got out Opening sunday and was busted by a young 6. Since then, It's been work, or I'm too lazy to get out. I'm going back out this weekend. Usually don't have any issues dropping a few does behind the house, so that will cover the MEATLESS FREEZER issue. Weather or not I get to fill a buck tag, well we will see how that plays out. Scheduled all of thanksgiving week off for vacation, So I'll have a whole week (minus the 25th for another test) to hunt ANYTHING I WANT!!! YAY!
