Replicas. A few measurements and a good picture and he will nail it.

That mount looks great, a really pretty hide, to go with that rack is an Awsome combination. Steve is the best, he's done two mounts for me and sometimes I'll stop and appreciate is art work. His fish are incredible too.

I took Thursday off work to get some "work" done before I got to spend a weekend as Mr. mom. Had a gobblefest at our farm. Birds didn't really fire up until pretty late but when they did it was on. Had one roosting close and at least four more a little farther from where I was set up. A hen came out in the field early and fed away from me. The toms were still on the roost. The one close to me was having a sound off with another one finally a different tom and two jakes came into the field and quickly make their way to my single hen decoy and I shot the tom at 40 yards. Interestingly the two jakes each had a beard at least 6" and were big. I really didn't know they were jakes until they were in full strut. Must have been an early hatch last year, I talked to another hunter that killed a big jake this year. I shot mine at 7:10 am, he was 21 lb, 10.5" beard and 7/8" spurs. A decent two year old I'd guess. They were still gobbling when I collected my bird and had another tom come in when I was picking up.

Made it out to the pond today. Caught this one that went 3-7 plus a 2-6, 2-9, 2-10, 3-0, and 3-3. Four more football shaped 12 inchers. All were caught on my favorite spring bait a jointed Rapala.

Nice job Chase. With school and work taking all your time seems to me you earned a hunt like this. Congrats. Love the still image from the video.

Thanks guys. This deer topped off a great four days of hunting. I hadn't even seen a buck until 11-2. Then on Friday the 8th things really picked up for me. I saw at least one buck (including two other shooters) every sit from Friday morning until I shot this one on Monday.

Just shot a big one. Pretty gnarly looking dark colored rack. Getting a bite to eat and then headed out to do the fun part. Pictures and update coming soon. I had been hunting a tall tined pearly white racked buck all season, but decided to try a different location tonight. Had seen 4 does earlier when this brute walked through. He came through at about 50 yards with no shot so I grunted until he heard me. Changed course and jumped a fence coming my way, I watched him make a scrape then he started to walk off again. Grunted again and he turned and came broadside at 15 yards. Shot him with my PSE Xforce and a Rage 2 blade tipped carbon express hunter maxima. Hadn't seen this buck at all. He has split brow tines on both sides with the left beam's being over 10 inches. I guess you would call him a 12 pointer though he has all kinds of stickers and unbelievable mass. I thought he had a second beam on his left side when I walked up to him but his eye gaurds just start right at the bases.

I enjoyed it, partly because I did the exact same thing a few years back. Only my miss was a big one. Found his shed that winter and I've never seen him since. Maybe you will have a happier ending. By the way, I'm back. Had some major computer issues a while back. As in major I mean dumpster major. Finally got a new one going so I hope not to miss out on all the great stories and info.

Congrats on the buck. He looks like a good one to me. Loved the story and I've felt that feeling of jumping a wounded book as well. I would love to have seen a picture of your Grandma pulling that buck out with her lawnmower. Also my four year old saw your picture and asked me if you were Jace.

Total daily bag limit on ducks is 6 but no more than 3 may be wood ducks. For mallards the limit is 4 with no more than 2 being hens but there is no such gender restrictions for woodies. Seasons will vary depending on your zone. There is an early youth season in October which would be good for woodies. Seems like they are some of the first ducks to bail out of here when it begins to get cold. You need a hunting license, Indiana migratory stamp, federal stamp (16 and older), and a HIP number (free.) Steel shot only for waterfowl. For doves you would need hunitng license, indiana game bird stamp and HIP #. Indiana youth license covers the indiana stamps if that applies to you.
